While I was at a Tesla dealership in Seattle, a group of people calling themselves to be Forward Seattle kept hassling me to get a signature just to repeal the $15/hour bill.
I kept telling them I live in Tacoma and that their issue is not my business but holy fuck are they persistent. I couldn't even get some time to myself with a Model S and sure enough, as soon as I stepped out I got jumped (not in a fighting sense) by the SAME EXACT PEOPLE wanting my signature. There goes the out-of-towner excuse ( I actually do live in Tacoma. )
At that point, I had enough. I threatened to call the cops on them and told them "I will be pressing charges if you continue to stalk me. And I will defend myself if you choose to continue from this point on", though I wish I had a taser. Thank God they backed off.
The next time I see these asshats, I'm taking their paper and throwing it in the trash if they hand me a pamphlet. Have an LS430 for your time because fuck repealing the $15/hour law.

Those people suck. I definitely hope nobody pays them $15/hr.

You should have said "No, I think your mothers are adequately priced at $15/hr".

I don't know how it is in WA, but in AZ people get paid for collecting signatures, and usually aren't affiliated with the campaigns.

I think they should repeal that law. It will just create unemployment. However I don't even live in the us. Sorry they bothered you so much.

In the cities of Seattle & SeaTac (no, it's not just the name of the airport) they passed a $15/hr minimum wage. However, the people he's talking about are trying to get it passed statewide.
Didn't we pass a recent law about not being harassed by signature gatherers recently?

Seattle petition harassment is par for the course.
My favorite was the fat teens wearing black clothing in the middle of the summer and Guy Fawkes masks that followed my wife and I around trying to get us to sign some stuff opposing Scientology. I don't sign petitions since I have no way to vet the group that's performing them and I said that. Apparently that was the wrong answer because I kept getting followed so I just pretended I didn't know what Scientology was and started asking them 'why are you opposed to science?' After a few minutes of accusing them of believing the earth was flat and that leeching was a miracle cure they finally gave up. Good times.

We have the same type of people protesting the NSA at the capitol in denver. Dressed in black, Guy Fawkes masks, Blasting slayer music, etc... On of they're signs said that they were against government control but another one of they're signs said arrest the NSA, so they are obviously idiots who can't make up they're make minds.

Were you at the one downtown by the stadiums? That place seems a bit out of the way for them to be at. Or were you at Bellevue Square?

In a city like Seattle, you can't live on $7.50 an hour. When I was in the contracting business, we paid our locals we hired $8 hr. cash. (I think minimum wage was $4.25 then). It does not cost, it pays. You get dependable people and when you throw OT at them, they did not complain.

Yeah, they already do that down here too, even though we haven't been hit by the minimum wage raising vigilante justice squad... yet.

Bellevue Square would almost surely dispose of them.

Went to an exhibit this weekend and discovered something about the clipboard crews. Want them to leave you alone? Take a toddler with you. "I'm collecting signat..." (while herding kid):"I'm busy here, man." "Oh, sorry, have a nice day."

When I was in school, I was at the library in the quiet study room working on some homework on my laptop. With my headphones on. This girl walks up to me trying to get my attention, and I'm like "hmm I wonder what she wants."
She started going on about how she's from PETA and wants there to be ethical food in the dining halls or some such nonsense. I didn't really care, but I also didn't want to have to endure her sales pitch, so I just signed the petition. It was an e-petition and I made the mistake of giving her my email address. Where I promptly started receiving PETA junk mail.
Thankfully, the unsubscribe link worked.

I'm fine with that, it can't fuck up my order if I enter it myself.

Me too! Except it's McDonalds so it will actually be the cheapest crappiest glitchiest android tab they can buy.
And then those damn kids will hack them.
